Anleitung: kmeaw 3.55 Custom Firmware + LV2 Patches (Peek/Poke) + Backup Manager

Here be another custom firmware (CFW) for your PS3. This is the kmeaw custom firmware version, which provides practically the same as Wutangrza’s CFW, but also you’re able to install pkgs that aren’t signed for geohot’s jailbreak. So all that homebrew for 3.41 can now be installed on kmeaw’s 3.55; signed and unsigned pkgs are compatible.

Brick status? I haven’t seen any reported. But still, you’re on your own.

All credits to devs: kmeaw, flukes1, fail0verflow, geohot, Wutangrza and more…

Instructions for 3.55 upgrade then custom 3.55 upgrade and software to backup and run games

1.) Put the Official 3.55 firmware file, „PS3UPDAT.PUP“ on flash drive in “/PS3/UPDATE/“ (yes, all caps) on your USB device. Do not plug in yet. (I format my thumb drive to FAT file system first)

2.) Go into Recovery Mode

Recovery Mode instructions:
  A. Power down the PS3, unplug power cord if no per switch on the back, then switch/plug back in.
  B. Now press and hold the power button, the system will startup and shutdown again.
  C. Release the power button, then press & hold power again, you’ll hear one beep followed by two consecutive beeps.
  D. Release power

3.) Connect the USB device and select „System Update“. (remember to always use the USB port closest to the disc loader)(all together about 4 minutes)

4.) Once your updated with the Official 3.55 update, erase it off USB flash drive

5.) Now put the patched kmeaw custom firmware 3.55 file (this will have the same file name as the official one so don’t get them mixed up) onto flash drive in “/PS3/UPDATE/“

6.) Now repeat step 2 and 3 to update to the kmeaw custom firmware

7.) YOU ARE NOW OFFICIALLY HACKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8.) Download lvl2.pkg AND gaia manager v2.02 to backup games and run backup games to root of the flash drive (these 2 pkgs are meant for each other)- or choose Multiman 1.13 and you don’t need lvl2.pkg

9.) From the “Game” menu icon scroll down to install packages (if you didn’t already know this is how you install software onto the ps3.)

7.) Install a manager onto PS3 via USB flash drive

8.) Run lvl2.pkg “FIRST” then run Gaia manager – or just run Multiman (v1.13.01)

Comments:

Some games need to be run from an internal if running from external fails to load and most will not direct boot you will “load” the game from the manager and it will exit out to the menu and then scroll up to your disc icon (you need a ps3 game in the drive most of the time, but not always, better safe than sorry) the disc should have the name and background of the game you just loaded, if not it didn’t load correctly, if it says error or corrupt or couldn’t load, you will need to move from external to internal and you may even need to access you machine via ftp from your computer to erase the game data file from the ps3, in the “games” file of the internal HD. If you need more help for this which you will if you’ve been running a dongle on 3.41 for a while just ask and we can go into detail.

FAQ:

I get message: Multiman cannot detect any residential payload

The latest multiman has disabled the auto lv2 patch to cut down on freezes. Either edit options_default.ini or use seperate lv2patch.

Edit options_default.ini - FTP

FTP into PS3 SEE HERE Navigate to /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/ Copy options_default.ini to your desktop Load options_default.ini in notepad and look for load_custom_payload=0 Change it to load_custom_payload=1 Save file and FTP it back to same location

Edit options_default.ini - No FTP

Locate the options_default.ini in your downloaded multiman Load options_default.ini in notepad and look for load_custom_payload=0 Change it to load_custom_payload=1 Put options_default.ini on USB Load multiman Multiman will automatically replace the options_default.ini with the one on the USB

Use Seperate LV2Patch

Latest LV2-v4 attached Download and extract Copy lv2-v4.pkg to root of USB Put USB into PS3 and install package as usual You will now need to load this lv2patch each time your ps3 starts.

Do I need LV2 Patch and PermissionFix with latest Multiman

LV2Patch is included with Multiman but disabled - See Above PermissionFix is also included with Multiman

What is lastGAME for

lastGame is the „last game“ you played/mounted in multiman, it allows you to load the „last game“ again without going through multiman

Example 1

You load Fifa11 through Multiman and play for a while, you then decide to play a bluray, then you want to play Fifa11 again, Fifa11 will still be in lastGAME and you wont need to go through multiman again.

Example 2

You mainly play Fifa11, you play it and then turn off your PS3, you come back to PS3 next day, load PS3 and Fifa11 is still in lastGAME. So you dont need to go through Multiman again, even after restarting PS3
